Oregon employers and workers face increased risks for heat illness and wildfire smoke exposures as higher temperatures and wildfire events become more frequent. This presentation will provide an overview of the Oregon OSHA rules, discuss health impacts, challenges, and strategies for protecting workers against heat and smoke.
Speaker Bio:
Kim is a board-certified industrial hygienist and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager with SAIF Corporation. She has been in the environmental, health, and safety field for 21 years and has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Health with an emphasis in industrial hygiene. She has worked in the aerospace and biotech industries, consulting, worker’s compensation, and a large school district. Prior to working at SAIF, Kim was EHS Manager for Ball Aerospace in Colorado. Kim has assisted SAIF policyholders with reviewing and implementing Oregon OSHA workplace rules, including Heat Illness Prevention and Protection from Wildfire Smoke. She has served on the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Pandemic Task Force, Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety External Advisory Board and currently serves on the Safe Employment Education and Training Advisory Committee (SEETAC).
